I have 2 names of course and one name StreetCrossingDesign.etsy.com started in 2012.
My second name has been online for 5 years. VickiesVintageroom.etsy.com

I have seen so many changes happen in the past 7 years. There has been new leaders who came in and turned Etsy upside down last year. Some for the good, but some for the bad. They are continuously changing things for us all and it gets very frustrating continuously making changes.
I am not making nearly as much as I did in the past and I am not having as many sales. I have contemplated going off Etsy for years, but I just keep hoping it gets better for my sales.
Last year I had double the amount of sales as this year. I am not putting as much in my shops to keep the cost down, but this I am sure is not helping.
I like How Etsy teams were fixed. If you want to post something and someone is to favor it, they have to go to that page. By doing so then you get more views. But, it is not really helping me alot. I think listing more items, sharing them, and getting my stuff out there is extremely important. I also have sales and free shipping for most of my listings. I hope that sales will pick up soon, been kind of dead in the water.

Vickie Streethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16596592457184280114noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4414816557111147202.post-53713671382427734032019-02-21T05:51:00.001-08:002019-02-21T05:51:36.197-08:00Etsy today, February 21stWell, I am sorry I have not posted on here for a while. I have been trying to adjust to the new changes that Etsy has once again made. This time to the teams and forums. I have not been posting as much due to the fact that they take out the money immediately as soon as a sale comes in. If you owe more than you get on a sale, then you have your entire sale swiped from you. The Teams are no longer letting you show the item that you post of pictures. So you now have to click on each item individually to favor or heart that item. Oh well, you have to roll with the changes they make if you want to sell on Etsy. Life is how it is.
My shops are doing okay, not as good as last year at this time, but I will work at improving them starting today. Once again my shops names are
This time to the payment account. First they stopped letting us have our sales sent to PayPal, now they have it fixed so that every sale you get they automatically take out the fees owed and so if you have a sale for say $12.00 and you owe after shipping and fees, $11.00. You get $1.00. It will then go to your bank account. Instead of giving us the choice of paying at a later date or paying a certain amount now. It is immediately deducted. I am not happy about this and therefore after the holidays this year. I will only have 50 items or so on each name. The thing I used to do is pay for my bill and add a few cents or dollars to the amount. It would then reflect that I had a credit of say 1.50. Now can not even do that. I just am tired of all the changes.
However at this time I do have sales and free shipping on many of my items.
I have had ups and downs with my health all year, including surgery, cancer, and now radiation. I am guessing I will be okay and I am just trying to keep my head out of sand with Etsy and the listings.
Sales have been okay, I have had 200 sales on StreetCrossingDesign.etsy.com, and 80 sales on VickiesVintageroom.etsy.com. I will continue to try to list my items on Etsy more every day. I am trying to battle my own health and do work with Etsy and Ebay. Today I am listing a crafting book on VickiesVintageroom and a pattern as well.
Not since the holidays have been over and done. I did a great deal of sales on eBay and Etsy last 3 months of 2017 for the holiday season. I was very shocked at how much sold, but I have worked 5 years to get these type of sales.
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif; font-size: large;">My secrets: well, not sure I have any in particular. I have a few teams I work with on Etsy and maybe they are helping to get my items noticed. I think that Etsy and eBay had to do a whole lot of changes to compete with Amazon and they did do that. They revamped on Etsy and changed so much, starting in August I seen a great deal more sales. I usually have a sale or 2 always going in my shops, so this now helps.

<span style="color: purple; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif; font-size: large;">My eBay secrets: usually I just put the prices lower than what most others sell theirs for. I am pretty much honest. Out of the 70 sales for the holidays, I had one shirt returned. I am glad nothing broke and I had lots of good feedback. I also gave all the people on eBay and Etsy a gift if they bough from me. Might have been stickers, name tags, pencils, etc... but they all got something. This helped I am sure.
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif; font-size: large;">For now, this is all, have a good month of January and a good Year.
<span style="color: purple; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif; font-size: large;">

<span style="color: purple; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif; font-size: large;">as always: VickiesVintageroom.etsy.com
I deactivated them on Etsy and will put them back on next year in September or October. I did have a great deal of sales. Between Etsy and eBay I sold 65 items from October 1st to today. This is more than I ever sold in that time frame. I gave each customer an extra gift with their packages, whether it would be a Christmas Pencil, gift tags, stickers, etc.. They all got to have something. So this was a lot of work but it had paid off in the long run.

Now onto other matters of the heart, I am going to removing many items from both avenues of selling, eBay and Etsy in the next month. I have already started. Some of it will be going to Goodwill, some of it will be deactivated until a later day.

Well this is all for now,.

This year Etsy changed a great deal of things and I feel the changes improved our sales. They added go on sales, percents off and so on. They also did a social media sharing change for both the phones and online. The sales reflects next to our items when we have them on sale now. I have seen a pretty big difference in the amount of sales I have had compared to last year. I am glad I stuck it out with Etsy and have decided to add clothing and scarves and purses to the shops. It has been a success on the selling of these items. Will I continue to sell them in the future, maybe. I do think the clothing is a good thing to sell.
So some items I have listed that are new can be found in my 2 Etsy shops. Have a look
But, today I decided to do so because I feel this is important. I started selling on Etsy over 5 years ago and it has been an up and down ride for me. Sometimes it has been steady for months. But, this year, Etsy changed some staffing and changed a great deal for the sellers to post their items better and easier.
<span style="color: blue; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">I sell vintage, jewelry, hand crafted, and now clothes and purses and scarves. Well, I have decided to add these type of items to sell on Etsy because of the fact that Etsy has done all they can to help us sell. They added 5 more photo spots so the buyer will get a better idea of what they are buying. They added sales and free shipping options for us and it is seen on the pages as you look at an item. They also now offer gift wrapping, and this is an option you can decide on whether you want to do that or not. Yes they made some decisions that bothered me, like losing the treasuries and messing with our stats, but it has not changed anything as far as sales. Now I just use the teams much more than ever before.
<span style="color: blue; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">

<span style="color: blue; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">You see Etsy is a personal place to most of us. It is the place we have made some friends and even people like family. So many of us sell because we love it for one and want to offer the best we can to the buyers. We also use Etsy because of the low fees of selling an item. If we have a question either Etsy will answer it or one of our team members. You can post in the forums as well if you are concerned about something and need answers. I will probably sell on Etsy as long as I am able to do so. So buyers need to come and see what we all have and buy buy buy.
I have been trying to figure out what all changes that Etsy had made to the shops and I also have been making changes to my 2 shops.

StreetCrossingDesign.etsy.com

VickiesVintageroom.etsy.com

I had added a whole lot of items in my shops in the past few months, and a whole lot has been sold. I lost track of how many sales between Etsy and eBay. Used to eBay was the biggest seller for me. Now it has been Etsy. Last weekend I had 5 sales and usually I get 1-2 sales a week. Sometimes I do not even get that. But, I am still working at it and trying. This is all an Etsy shop owner can do. I have already sold over the amount I sold last year on Etsy for the whole year. So this year it might double.

The changes:
Pictures: You now can add 10 pictures. This is great for some items. Such as books, clothing, etc..

sales and coupons: they are trying something new so that people will see what is for sale with coupons and so on. Will wait to see how that turns out.

Stats: well this has been a bad ordeal for most of us. We have to now work 3x harder to get views when we need to be listing. They are slow to get the stats updated and they shut down or mess up a whole lot. Will just see where this goes with the stats.

I have many new things I have listed and more to come on both names.

This past month in May Etsy rolled out their new Shop Manager. They took away our views that we were getting to just the few from actual people who go to Etsy and click on our pages. So now we all have to work 20x harder to get our views instead of focusing on adding more items to our shops or creating. Maybe we were getting some bots in there with some of the stats but that was up to us if that is how we really liked it.

I also see where you have to add 500 characters or 100+ words to your descriptions now. They really push this and even after you fix it and I add 200+ words they still do not take off your little note that it needs to be fixed.
It is okay that they let us know about the pictures, that we need 5, but I am aggravated over this idea of how the photos should look. One blog says to add a good background for them which shows them in different light. Another blog about the pictures will say they should have one background color. I decided to go to shops who sell a great deal and see how they do their pics. Well, for now, I am going to be taking pictures in a white background.

Enough of the complaints, I have been out and about shopping at yard sales, thrift stores, and other avenues to find some items to sell. I have found some wonderful things to list and sell.
I also have been watching Planet Alissa's sales videos on YouTube. She is very knowledgeable and sells a great deal from her Etsy shop. She has all white back ground on her pictures and I decided this is to be my route for now.
<span style="color: blue; font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">Throughout the time after Etsy stopped having Treasuries. I started to create lists on my Etsy shops pages. I have about 20 different lists for items of different colors, Retro, 1980's, vintage, handmade, etc.. Well, today, I wanted to go through them and see if I could pick up on some or any trends on the selling. I found out that 'Retro 1970's' is selling a large amount in that era and time frame. The Funky/weird items, blue items, green, and purple are selling some things at this time as well. Blue items are selling the most of the colors. I imagine white will pick up due to wedding season coming up.
As far as the Vintage items, just random vintage, this has picked up a great deal as well. I checked Yellow and Red item lists, nothing had been sold from them. I did try to create lists of many beautiful and unique items for sale, and I did find the Retro trend very interesting. So I am going to gear toward finding Retro items more than anything at this time when out looking.
<span style="color: blue; font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">

<span style="color: blue; font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">I have been on vacation a good amount this year. We lost my husband's mom, so there has been a great deal going on before her passing and after. This past week we finally took a long needed 9 day vacation to Hot Springs, Arkansas. If anyone is wondering where to take a vacation for all families, this is the place. It is good for everyone. The food is good, Stubby's barbeque and Grandmas kitchen is good. I hope that I can again go there or even move there, but right now things don't look to be heading that way. Well, this is all for the new post.
<span style="color: blue; font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">I will be loading pictures on here again in the next post. I had several on both Etsy shops. I had 7 sales in them and I was able to finally get a few items sold I otherwise was not able to for years. One of them was a little Napco figurine that I had listed for 3-4 years. I was going to let the listing run out on Etsy and put it up in my home because I figured it would not ever sell. So now it is at a new home and I do not have to do that.
I have listed a good amount in January and made some new cross necklaces and working on a new Wall cross. I will get it done sooner or later. I will then be finished with the wall crosses until later on when a few have sold.

I found a new extension that is called the 'Etsy Heart Exchanger' on Google. It really helps to get the views and hearts needed daily for your shops.
Not many sales, I guess that is because the shopping season has went to sleep with Christmas over. So this month I have been painting and rejuvenating things. My son, Danny, is joining in some of the work. I have done a great deal of painting more frames, and I ordered paint to do more projects. I painted a new cross and a shelf as well. I am sharing my work right now, buy buy buy.
The sales were numerous for the holidays. I believe I had about 30 sales in 3 months on eBay and Etsy. So I am not complaining and some of them happened in one week, which sent me to the post office every day for a few weeks. I am happy about it though.

The first of the year I will be painting many frames due to selling them all but 2 over the holidays. My son Danny will be joining in the work this year. He will be helping me here on out for the time being until he finds a job or returns to college. We are also going to make several cross necklaces, design several wall crosses. I am doing some art again, so this too will be added into it. We got vintage movies out the kazoo to list also.

Of course our crafting room is going to be changing and all so we have more space for 2-3 of us to work. I want to be able to create new and sell new items with my son. I have no idea yet how I will involve him in this business yet, but I will figure it out.
Well, until next year, Happy New Year for 2017.Vickie Streethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16596592457184280114noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4414816557111147202.post-42030446640882090312016-11-30T10:25:00.001-08:002016-12-28T09:36:40.238-08:00Streetcrossing Hobbybox: Etsy Shop: Etsy and eBay November 30thStreetcrossing Hobbybox: Etsy Shop: Etsy and eBay November 30th: So far the sales for the Christmas holiday season starting in October has been really good. But, 85% of the sales has been vintage and distressed frames on eBay. I feel frustrated with Etsy still and wish I could change some things right now. I just can't yet though. I need to start to lower prices more on eBay and Etsy. I did a 25% coupon for Cyber Monday, Black Friday, and Small Business Saturday. No sales from Etsy happened with this coupon. I even had my items in Promoted listings for the whole weekend, and still no sales.
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif; font-size: large;">

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif; font-size: large;">I am planning on doing some changes the first of 2017, and this will include making Cross necklaces more so. I will also be painting more frames and other items to sell. Distressed look on some. I will continue to sell vintage but only the vintage I know will be selling, which sometimes is not easy to tell. I have sold 5 frames in the past month so the supplies are about out.
I thought I would see how things went since now they are gone. Well, at this time there seems to be much silence. Very few emails now and the way I have to promote is much different. I have chosen to go to different shops every week and find some newer shops to promote. I have handmade lists that I use to promote these shops. I try to go through all the lists and delete the ones that have sold that week. One list in particular is for Christmas gifts. I have many of my regulars (shop owners who have become friends) in which I continue to promote each week. I also use Facebook, Google+, Pinterest, Twitter, and now Instagram more so than ever before. I also am going to the teams and promoting more and even considering starting my own, but not sure what I would call it. It is harder, more difficult to get an item promoted all these different ways. Instagram is new to me, I tried to understand it in the past, but had no such luck. Now, I downloaded it on my tablet and I am working at promoting my shop out there. It is harder though. Much more work for me to do it anymore.
Another feature I also figured out were the shop updates that I was trying to do but had a difficult time. Now with the tablet it is easier.

All in all, I still miss the treasuries and feeling special and spoiled by other shops more so. But, life goes on. I did send a couple of requests to Etsy support to get them to allow us to buy items from our shop payment account. If an item is sold and there is money sitting there waiting to go to our bank, why not buy something from this money at Etsy too. More sales would happen all the way around. Then there was the request to add PayPal to where our money can go into. I love PayPal and it is frustrating having to have it all put in our bank account at this time.
